Little Egg Harbor is also a beautiful area to enjoy in a kayak or paddle board. Long Beach Island is within minutes and offers some great surfing areas as well.

Golfing

It is also located within thirty minutes from several other courses, including the LPGA Tournament course at Seaview.

History

Founded in the eighteenth century, Little Egg Harbor and Tuckerton (which Little Egg surrounds) is rich with history. The Tuckerton Seaport and the Tuckerton Historical Society both work to preserve the local history and offer residents and visitors a way to immerse themselves in it. The Seaport offers exhibits, tours, classes, and programs ranging from duck decoy carving to blacksmithing to crafting.

Shellfishing

You can’t speak about Little Egg Harbor and not mention the shellfishing. Crabbing is a favorite pastime of residents and visitors alike. Neighboring Tuckerton was once named Clamtown due to the then thriving clamming and oystering industries. Although it has declined, clams and mussels are still harvested from the local bays. Fresh scallops from the scallop boats on Long Beach Island can be found in local restaurants and seafood markets.

Beaches

Located along the coast of New Jersey, Little Egg Harbor is located within minutes from Long Beach Island beaches and Atlantic City beaches. Enjoy the day basking in the sun on the beach and retreat to your Little Egg Harbor home in the evening! There are also some bay beach areas located in Little Egg Harbor if you like to avoid the crowds.
